About Custody Schedules
2-2-3 Alternating
A 50/50 schedule. Parent A has 2 overnights, Parent B has 2 overnights, then Parent A has 3 overnights. The pattern flips the following week so that weekends rotate and each parent gets equal time over 14 days.
A 50/50 schedule. Parent A has 2 overnights, Parent B has 2 overnights, then each parent has 5 consecutive overnights. Fewer transitions than 2-2-3, with longer uninterrupted stretches at each home.
A 50/50 schedule. Each parent has one full 7-night week before the child moves to the other parent. Fewest transitions of any equal-time schedule, but the longest consecutive stretches apart from each parent.
A 50/50 schedule. Parent A has 3 overnights one week and Parent B has 4; then it flips the next week. Only one exchange per week, and neither parent goes more than 4 consecutive days without seeing the child.
A 70/30 schedule — one parent has the majority of overnights. This app offers two variants:
Weekend starts Saturday — True 5-2: the weekday parent has Mon–Fri (5 overnights, 71%) and the weekend parent has Sat–Sun (2 overnights, 29%).
Weekend starts Friday — Actually a 4-3 split: the weekday parent has Mon–Thu (4 overnights, 57%) and the weekend parent has Fri–Sun (3 overnights, 43%). This is labelled "5-2 / Weekend starts Friday" in this app for convenience, but by overnight count it is closer to a 4-3.
The numbers in all schedule names refer to consecutive overnights — nights the child sleeps at that parent's home — not calendar hours or partial days.
